ABOUT THE PROJECT
Utilex had outgrown its original office, and when the team built their new office, they wanted to make a statement with their ceilings.
Featured throughout the build are the NCS Apex acoustic ceiling tiles, black Trident ceiling grid and a square open cell feature ceiling in the reception area.
It’s a brilliant example of the effectiveness of an open cell ceiling: simple to install and yet creates a stunning end result!
BLACK & WHITE
Black grid, white tiles: a new trend?
White Apex ceiling tiles installed on black Trident grid: here’s why it works.
1. It ties in with the black vertical slats.
The grid echoes that same bold, linear style, so the ceiling becomes part of the overall design instead of an afterthought.
2. Strong contrast looks modern.
Black-on-white creates a sharp, contemporary look that works nicely with the orange accent wall.
3. It frames the lighting.
The black lines help the light panels stand out cleanly and give the ceiling structure.
4. It adds depth without making the space feel heavy.
Because the tiles are still white, the ceiling feels open and bright, but the grid adds definition.
