HOW DO YOU REMOVE CEILING TILES FOR RECYCLING?
To remove ceiling tiles for recycling, lift them out carefully by hand, keep them separate from grid and insulation, and stack them flat on pallets of 250 in a dry, safe spot. Damaged or contaminated tiles can’t be accepted, so careful handling on site makes the difference.
BEFORE THE DE-FIT
Register the project with NCS early. We collect sample tiles from site and test them, then send a project checklist. Bulk collection only goes ahead once testing is complete and NCS has approved the tiles.
DURING REMOVAL
-
- Lift tiles out by hand. Don’t drop or break them.
- Separate tiles from grid, insulation, cabling and other debris.
- Keep them as clean and dry as possible.
PALLETISING
-
- 250 tiles per pallet
- Stacked flat, and neat
- Free from contamination
- Secured with a minimum of plastic straps or rope, not shrink wrap
- Edge protectors where needed
COLLECTION DAY
NCS arranges an approved logistics partner to collect the pallets anywhere in Australia. The site team needs to:
-
- put pallets somewhere safe and easy to access, and
- provide a site contact.
AFTER COLLECTION
Once the tiles are processed, you’ll receive a waste report and certificate for your project records. See Ceiling tile recycling certificates and waste reporting.
