WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RECYCLING AND REPURPOSING CEILING TILES?

With ceiling tile recycling vs repurposing, the difference is what the old tiles become. Recycling usually means turning old ceiling tiles back into new ceiling tiles. Repurposing means turning them into a different product altogether. EnviroTile repurposes old mineral fibre tiles into a blended agricultural and landscaping product, which is why tiles of any brand are accepted.

WHY IT MATTERS ON A PROJECT

Brand doesn’t matter: tiles don’t need to suit one manufacturer’s process, so mixed brands from one building can go together.

No minimum quantity: smaller de-fits qualify, not just whole floors.

Same result for landfill: either way, the tiles stay out of it, and you receive a waste report and certificate.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE TILES

  1. Tiles are tested with a sample before collection to confirm they’re suitable.
  2. At our facility, they’re broken down and separated into reusable material streams.
  3. Contaminants are removed and base material is refined.
  4. The refined material is blended with proprietary additives to create a product used in agriculture and landscaping.

RECYCLING, REPURPOSING, OR BOTH?

In everyday terms, EnviroTile is a ceiling tile recycling program: old tiles are recovered and given a new use rather than dumped. “Repurposing” is simply the more precise description of what that new use is.
